Born on February 16th, 1866 at La Pereda, Ablana Province of Asturias. In 1882, he came to Sandy Point, determined to make his way in the world and assure a position for himself by dint of energy and perseverance. He worked for a period of five years with Messrs. Meiddel and Stubenrauch, After this time had elapsed, he went to Cabo Virgenes in search of gold. Fate did not favour him, and at the end of two months, he gave up the undertaking to return to Punta Arenas where he worked for a time for the account of Mr. Young.
His first attempts in the working of cattle-breeding were made at a place near "Tres Chorrillos" (Chilian Territory) after having, in partnership with Mr. Allen, purchased three hundred sheep.
En 1890, the partners went over to "Ci-Aike", on the confines of Argentina. Soon after, Mr. Suarez set up in partnership with Fernandez Rodriguez, a small business in Rio Gallegos, which they worked at for a lapse of four years, and which was the firm which furnished supplies and working implements to the settlers in the territory at that time.
On June 24th, 1891, he married Miss Albanie Ladouch, and, at the beginning of 1892, with her companionship, he started to stock the land where today stands the farm "Kilik Aike Sud", with 500 sheep brought from the Falkland Islands in the schooner "Maria Colomba".
In 1895, he did the same at "Las Horquetas", for which he bought from Mr. George MacGeorge 2000 Merino sheep, 200 cows and 200 mares.
Mr. Suarez life was one of intensely hard and continuous labour, and although he saw the ambition rewarded which brought him to America, it was after realizing great sacrifices and suffering hardships of every kind.
