This gentleman has not been really, properly speaking, a settler in the territory, but his influence has weighed so much in its progress, either in the commercial aspect in the industrial one, by lending his assistance and the prestige of his name to several farmers established in the zone, that we should not consider this section complete, if we failed to include in it these few lines dedicated to honouring those qualities of a fighter whose name both in Argentine and Chilian Patagonia, is synonymous with kindness, generosity and gentlemanliness.
He was born in the notable property named Wuthenow, near Soldin (Prussia), and pursued his studies at the Gymnasium of Joachimsthal. He finished them at the age of 19, and started at once his apprenticeship in practice of business for a three years' period, but in the meantime he followed his university course. With a well-stocked outfit of knowledge, he went to London, and after a short stay in that capital, he left for Valparaiso where he arrived in the year 1880.
Since that time, he has never ceased in the intense and skilful campaign undertaken, and even directed towards everything that might be useful in propelling effectively the progress of these Southern regions, where he was able to divine the possibilities of a great and imminent future.
