Tan pronto como se supo la triste noticia del fallecimiento del señor
Don T. R. Burbury, nadie dudó que el alto cargo de Administrador General
de la Sociedad Explotadora de Tierra del Fuego con asiento en Magallanes, sería
ocupado por el idóneo e inteligente señor D. Leslie R. W. Greer,
y asímismo lo entendió también el Directorio de dicha Sociedad,
el cual por una total mayoría le confió el día 24 de Septiembre
de 1923 la dirección de los intereses que dicha Sociedad posee en Magallanes.
La unanimidad con que Mr. Greer fué designado para puesto tan alto de
la más poderosa firma ganadera de Magallanes, no solamente ha de ser
un estímulo y una satisfacción para el ungido, sino que revela
también y sobre todo en su elección se hizo justicia al mérito.
Hombre de talento y actividad a la vez que de experiencia y tino, Mr. Leslie
R. W. Greer continuará dignamente las tradiciones de Mr. Cameron y de
Mr. T. R. Burbury, sus ilustres antecesores, y pondrá por así decirlo
la corona a la organización y prosperidad definitivas de este organismo
de primer orden en el capital y el trabajo magallánico y de Chile y aún
del mundo. Alentamos pues al todavía nuevo Administrador General a que
no decaigan sus propósitos.
As
soon as the sad news was made known of the death of Mr. T. R. Burbury, nobody
doubted that the high position of General Manager of the Sociedad Explotadora
de Tierra del Fuego, based in Magallanes, would be filled by the capable and
intelligent Mr. D. Leslie R. W. Greer; and the Company Directors thought likewise,
appointing him by absolute majority to that position on 24th September 1923.
The unanimous selection of Mr. Greer for the highest post of the
most powerful ranching company in Magallanes is not only cause of encouragement
and satisfaction for the appointee, but also proof that his merit was duly recognized.
Talented,
industrious, experienced and skilful, Mr. Leslie R. W. Greer will be a worthy
successor to the illustrious Messrs. Cameron and T. R. Burbury. In a manner
of speaking, one could say that he will crown the organization and prosperity
of this company — number one for jobs and capital in Magallanes — in Chile and in the wider world.
Therefore, we encourage the newly appointed General Manager to keep his sights
set high.
